Neurology and Stroke

For:

Our Neurology and Stroke Service offers you therapy and nursing input after a stroke or a neurological diagnosis. It supports adults who want to work on rehabilitation, improve their independence, mobility and balance, or need help with conditions affecting their thinking, planning and memory.

About the team

Our team includes a range of specialists in neurology and rehabilitation – including physiotherapists, occupational therapists, speech and language therapists, nurses and rehabilitation assistants.

We help adults who have had a stroke – or a brain or spinal injury. We support you to regain independence, rebuild skills and improve your quality of life.

We can also help if you have a neurological condition, such as Parkinson’s disease, multiple sclerosis (MS), motor neurone disease (MND) and a movement disorder.

If we are not the right service, we will help you find the right place to go.

Who this service is for

We can usually help if:

  • You have had a confirmed stroke
  • You have a neurological condition like Parkinson’s disease, MS or a brain injury
  • Your independence was impacted by your condition and you want to work on regaining it

Questions and answers

What if my symptoms worsen?
If your symptoms change or you feel you need more support, you can reach out to your local stroke or neurology team or speak to your GP for more urgent advice. Call 111 if you need help urgently, or call 999 if you have any signs of a new stroke.
Where will my appointment take place?
We understand that the most important thing about your appointment is that you feel comfortable. Your appointment may take place in a community clinic, but depending on your area it may also be possible to do it as a home visit, or by phone or video call depending on what fits you best.
Can I bring someone with me to my appointment?
Of course – we understand that it can be helpful to have someone join you in your appointment, so you are welcome to bring a family member, friend or carer with you if that would help make you more comfortable.
