Nutrition and Dietetics (Wiltshire)

We help adults and children to improve their overall health and quality of life through nutrition and dietary support. Our service provides advice to people with a wide range of nutrition related conditions, such as malnutrition, Coeliac Disease, Irritable Bowel Syndrome, Inflammatory Bowel Disease, Diabetes, food intolerances and allergies, as well as tube feeding.

About the team

Our team of registered dietitians (RDs) offer professional, evidence-based guidance on diet and nutrition.

The team is made up of adult and children’s dietitians, and dietetic assistants. We also offer placements for dietetic students. This is your choice, and we'll ask you if you're happy for a student to be present at your appointment.

We support adults and young people to better understand how nutrition can support their condition and improve their quality of life.

If we are not the right service, we will try to help you find the right place to go.

Questions and answers

How long do I wait for my first appointment?
We aim to offer you an appointment within 12 weeks of you being referred, or sooner for urgent cases. We understand that waiting can be difficult and we will do our best to see you as soon as we can.
How can I prepare for my first appointment?
You will be asked to fill out a food diary and possibly a symptom evaluation form before your first appointment. This is so that our team can understand the kinds of things you typically eat and how your current diet might be a factor in your nutrition concerns.
What will my appointment look like?
Your first appointment will usually take about 30 minutes and may include speaking about any current conditions you have and medication you take, talking about your current weight and your weight history, going over your typical diet and lifestyle, speaking about any nutrition problems, or symptoms you have and setting personal goals to support you to meet your nutritional aim.
Can I bring someone to my appointment with me?
Yes, we understand that there can be a lot of information to remember during appointments. You are welcome to bring a family member or close friend if that will help make you more comfortable. They may also help remind you of any questions you wanted to ask, and help you to remember what we discuss during the appointment.
