Bladder and Bowel

Bladder and bowel issues can be complex to manage and they can make daily life difficult. Our services can help you whether you’re a child or adult – supporting children with incontinence issues or toilet training difficulties, or supporting adults with pregnancy-related conditions, post-surgery bowel care and other bladder issues.

Our support can include general advice and guidance, creating treatment plans, deciding lifestyle changes, and supplying helpful aids and products.

About the team

Our team of specialist bladder and bowel nurses are here to help get to the bottom of what’s troubling you. Together, we can work out a treatment plan and any lifestyle changes you might need to help manage your condition.

We understand that bladder and bowel issues can be difficult and sometimes embarrassing to manage, and our team is here to help you reduce the impact they have on your day-to-day life.

During your treatment, our team will support you in keeping track of how your condition improves. For children and young people, we also offer training and support for parents and carers. If our toilet training support doesn’t improve a child’s bladder or bowel control at first, we can give you products like pads that can absorb urine.

If we’re not the right service for you, we’ll help you find the right place to go.

Questions and answers

I'm not incontinent, can the service still support me?
Yes. We support adults and young people with a range of issues – difficulty with bladder or bowel control (incontinence) is just one issue we support with.
Can someone be in the appointment with me?
Of course – we understand that these appointments can be stressful, and it may be helpful to bring someone to support you. Please let us know before your appointment if you are bringing someone with you, and if there is anything we can do to help you feel more comfortable during your appointment. If you don’t have anyone you can bring, we can arrange for a person to accompany you, if you would like.
