Wednesday 21 October: Industrial action is planned within the BSW Single Point of Access

We have contingency arrangements in place, and patient safety remains our priority. Please continue to contact and access community services in the usual way unless we contact you directly or publish different advice on this page.

Urgent needs will continue to be clinically prioritised. We will update this page if there is any change to service access.

Lymphoedema

Our Lymphoedema Service helps you to manage swelling and discomfort, commonly seen in legs or arms but one that can also occur in other areas of your body, caused by lymphoedema and lipoedema.

We can assess the concerns you have with your swelling, and we can create a personal treatment plan to help support and manage your condition.

About the team

Our team is made up of specialist nurses who are here to help you reduce and manage your swelling and minimise the risk of complications such as cellultis and other skin infections.

We work with you to understand how your swelling is most affecting you. Then together we will create an individualised treatment plan tailored to your specific needs.

The service through education will support you to manage your condition with the use of compression garments, skin care, exercise and self massage. When necessary, treatments may also include short courses of intensive bandaging and manual lymphatic massage.
