The Tissue Viability and Wound Care Service helps people with wounds that are complex, slow to heal, or at risk of getting worse. These might include pressure ulcers, leg ulcers, surgical wounds, and injuries from accidents. Our aim is to help you heal safely and prevent any further harm.
We also support other healthcare professionals who might support you, giving specialist advice and care plans so you receive the best treatment possible.

About the team
Our team is made up of specialist nurses who are experts in wound care. They assess complex and slow-to-heal wounds, giving advice on the best treatment, and supporting you to recover. This may include wounds such as pressure ulcers, leg ulcers, diabetic wounds, or wounds that have not healed after surgery or injury.
The team works closely with GPs, community nurses, hospital teams and other health professionals to make sure you receive the care you need.
If we are not the right service for you, we will help you find the right place to go.
Who this service is for
We can usually help if:
- You are registered with a local GP
- You have a wound that is complex or slow to heal
- You have a pressure ulcer that needs specialist assessment
- You have a leg ulcer that has not improved with treatment
- You have complications with a leg ulcer
- You have a post-surgical wound that is not healing
- Your wound has an infection
- You need specialist support, such as equipment advice, to prevent pressure ulcers
We may not be the right service if:
- Your wound can be managed through less specialist care
- Your wound is superficial and not at risk of getting worse
- Your need urgent hospital treatment
- You live outside the area covered by this service
