Transcript

Hi, I’m Jenny and I’m an assistant practitioner. My job is to help people do their quantitative behaviour test, which we call a QB test.

If we are considering ADHD we may give you an appointment for a QB test. We sometimes do this test to find out more about how your brain works and whether you might have ADHD.

ADHD stands for attention deficit hyperactivity disorder. ADHD is different for everyone.

People with ADHD can be really fun and have lots of good ideas, but you might find it hard to concentrate. You might feel that your brain and body are very busy or you might do something and then wish you hadn’t done it.

When you come for your QB test you’ll meet me, Jenny or another practitioner.

You’ll come to a room a bit like this one and we can answer any questions you have about your assessment. A QB test might sound a bit scary but please don’t worry.

We just want to learn about how your brain is working.

Some children have said the QB test is fun and others have said it is a little bit boring. Everyone is different but we will help you feel comfortable in the test.

So, let me talk you through what happens.

First, you and your parent, carer or teacher will come into the room. The person who is doing your test will have a chat with you and show you any equipment we’ll use like this laptop and headband, which we’ll help you put on so it fits just right.

We’ll ask the person with you to wait outside.

This is so that it’s very quiet and you can concentrate on the test. We will give you a clicker like this to hold and click during the test.

When your QB test is finished we’ll send the information to the doctor to review which will help them decide if you have ADHD.
